Mesut Ozil was born on the 15th of October 1988 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Ozil plays for the German national football team and recently left German club Werder Bremen to sign with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Ozil, who has been a junior national team member since 2006 (his first professional league season) and a member of the German national team since 2009, gained international attention during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and was nominated for the Golden Ball Award.

Ozil’s transfer fee to Real Madrid is believed to be in the region of €15m. He made his debut on 22 August in a friendly match against Hércules, which Real Madrid won 1–3.

Manchester United’s veteran midfielder scored an amazing goal from 35 yards in the match against Fulham and becomes one of only ten players to hit the 150 goal mark.

Manchester United cruised to victory on Monday night, defeating Premiership returnees Newcastle United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils kicked off their season of redemption nicely by dominating the Magpies and it all begun in the 33rd minute when Dimitar Berbatov drilled a low shot from a tight angle after the ball was nudged in front of him by Jose Enrique following a Paul Scholes pass.

The lead was doubled eight minutes when Wayne Rooney failed to control the ball from a Patrice Evra pass but it found its way to Darren Fletcher who turned and struck neatly past Steve Harper.

The match was wrapped up five minutes from time when veteran Ryan Giggs was teed up by old mate Paul Scholes and fired home to make it 3-0.

Paul Scholes enjoyed a vintage day out at Wembley as Manchester United lifted the Community Shield for an 18th time with a 3-1 win over English champions Chelsea.

Supported by willing runners in the form of Antonio Valencia and Wayne Rooney, Scholes, now a sprightly 35, left Carlo Ancelotti’s side flabbergasted as he dictated play in the first period with his delightful range of passing.

The evergreen midfielder picked out Wayne Rooney with a 50-yard pass and the England striker played in Valencia for the opener on 41 minutes.

Valencia turned provider for Mexico striker Javier Hernandez to score the second on 14 minutes, his first competitive goal for United.

Chelsea reduced their arrears when Salomon Kalou scored from close range after Edwin van der Sar failed to hold Daniel Sturridge’s raking shot from distance on 83 minutes.

Chelsea tried desperately to restore parity, but they were picked off in stoppage time when substitute Dimitar Berbatov polished off a 20-pass move with an exquisite lob over Henrique Hilario.
