Wolfsburg are chasing QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt.

The Daily Mail says the German side wanted the 22-year-old in January when he was valued at £8million.

But Taarabt has just a year left on his contract and they hope to sign him for £4.5m.

Manchester United have had an approach for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski rejected.

Suddeutsche Zeitung says both United and beaten Champions League finalists Bayern Munich have had offers for the Poland international turned down by Dortmund.

Both bids fell short of BVB’s valuation, with the German champions reluctant to lose the striker.

Lewandowski revealed last week the interest of United.

Arjen Robben was gutted after missing his penalty in Bayern Munich’s Champions League final defeat to Chelsea.

The Dutch international winger offered no excuses after his miss.

Robben, who also fluffed a penalty in their Bundesliga title showdown with Borussia Dortmund, said: “I can’t describe how I feel with words, but it’s been a terrible night.

“Two or three times, you feel you have the cup in your hands but at the end you stand with nothing.

“It wasn’t a good penalty. I wanted to shoot the ball hard and high in the goal, but the ball didn’t go high enough. It was a terrible penalty kick.

“After that, I still played well but you have to change your mindset at that point.”

Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery says a second Champions League final defeat will slay Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

The French international winger knows Abramovich has been waiting a long time to get his hands on the prized piece of silverware.

“Abramovich has wanted to win the Champions League for so long,” he said.

“If they lose it on Saturday then it will be brutally tough. It would ruin them in the head and really lower morale.”

Vedad Ibisevic scored twice on his return to his former club to earn Stuttgart victory in a Baden-Wurttemberg derby at Hoffenheim on Friday night.

Ibisevic, 27, who spent almost five years with Hoffenheim before leaving in January, gave Stuttgart a 2-0 half-time lead, with Sejad Salihovic’s penalty not enough to prevent the hosts from losing their second game in a row.

The win moved Stuttgart above Hannover and up to seventh place in the Bundesliga, which could be good enough for a place in the Europa League next season.

Schalke came from behind to rejoin Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga with a big win over Cologne.

Lukas Podolski gave the home side the lead in the fourth minute, but Schalke turned the game on its head in the last half an hour with Ciprian Marica on target twice and Klaas Jan Huntelaar scoring from the penalty spot.

Marc Hoger made it four as Schalke also did themselves a favour in terms of improving their goal difference.

Miso Brecko was shown a red card to compound the defeat for Stale Solbakken’s side, who fall to within just three points of the relegation zone.

Borussia Moenchengladbach floored leaders Bayern Munich 3-1 with two goals by Patrick Herrmann and one from Marco Reus to move within a point of top spot as the Bundesliga resumed after a one-month winter break.

Gladbach, who terrorised lacklustre Bayern with a string of lightning-quick breaks, went up to second with 36 points from 18 games after clinching a league double over the visitors.

Bayern, beaten 1-0 by the same team on the opening day of the season, could not find much creative spark in the absence of suspended winger Franck Ribery.

Chelsea opened their Champions League Group E account with a 2-0 win against a determined Bayer Leverkusen side at Stamford Bridge.

Andre Villas-Boas’s side were made to work hard for the spoils, and it took a superb finish from defender David Luiz to break the deadlock on 67 minutes.

Juan Mata added some gloss to the scoreline with the last kick of the game, and ensure Leverkusen midfielder Michael Ballack went home unhappy on his return to his former club.

Fernando Torres assisted both goals, but failed to add to his single goal for Chelsea, who were some way below their fluent best.

Arsenal conceded a late equaliser as they were pegged back to a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in their opening Champions League Group F clash at the Westfalenstadion.

The German champions dominated the possession in the first half but Robin van Persie rounded off a 42nd-minute move that he started to give Arsenal the lead against the run of play.

For so long it looked as though the Gunners would hold on to secure a vital away win, but substitute Ivan Perisic levelled on 88 minutes with a stunning volley to mark the Bundesliga club’s return to the competition after a nine-year absence.

Eljero George Rinaldo Elia or simply known as Eljero Elia is a Dutch footballer of Surinamese descent who currently plays for German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV and the Dutch national team. The talented winger was born on the 13th of February 1987 in Voorburg.

A product of the AFC Ajax academy, Elia played for ADO Den Haag and FC Twente before joining Hamburg in 2009. He made his debut for the Dutch national team in September 2009, scoring on his debut, and participated at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
