Juventus 3-1 Catania – Highlights (Serie A)
Juventus overcame a stern test from Catania to win 3-1 in Turin, going top of Serie A for 24 hours at least thanks to a marvellous performance from Andrea Pirlo.
Pablo Barrientos gave the visitors a shock lead in an open first half, before man-of-the-match Pirlo levelled with one of his seemingly endless repertoire of free-kicks.
On-loan Juventus wide-man Marco Motta was dismissed for Catania, after which Pirlo turned provider as he set up Giorgio Chiellini and Fabio Quagliarella to put the result beyond doubt.
Quagliarella was injured by Juve’s substitute goalkeeper during the celebrations, but it was a slight negative in a strong result to follow the disappointing draw at Parma in midweek.
Juve leapfrog Milan to lead Serie A by two points, although the Rossoneri will regain top spot if they win at Cesena on Sunday.
