Tim Cahill Raring To Go Despite Neck Injury
Australia has been buoyed by the news that the neck injury suffered by Tim Cahill in the loss to the USA on the weekend will not hamper him heading into Monday’s opening group stage clash with Germany.
The Everton star had neck soreness after the match on Saturday following a stray header and was taken to hospital but scans revealed no serious damage and he will be right to resume training according to head coach Pim Verbeek who had other good injury news.
“Timmy Cahill went to hospital yesterday because he has some problems with his neck, and the MRI (scans) were all good,” Verbeek said.
“Tomorrow he will be ready. Instead of a normal header, because the (new World Cup) ball is still very hard to judge, he got the impact on his neck and shoulder – and that hurts. He’s okay.
“Brett Holman, Brett Emerton and Adam will also be 100 percent ready on the field.”
