Luca Toni Expected Italy World Cup Snub

Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni says he was disappointed not to make Marcello Lippi’s World Cup squad.

The striker barely played in the first six months of this season at Bayern Munich, though he almost helped Roma to the Scudetto after joining on loan in January.

“I never heard from Coach Lippi,” Toni told Chi magazine. “I am sad, as I will miss my teammates and the event.

“I believed right to the end, but to be honest, I’m not really surprised.”
